ISC West - What Did You Gain From This Year's Event?

It was a great show this year! There were lots of new products and solutions showcased. Traffic was high as well as the energy from sponsors and attendees alike. Now that I have returned to my desk & gathered my thoughts, I want to share some of them with you.
I felt, as did many of our alliance partners, that there was a significant improvement in attendance this year. Initial attendance numbers are estimated to be over 25,000 – outstanding! But, there were two of the 25,000 who didn’t seem to realize what show they were at. Check out this entertaining video of someone stealing an iPad from ATV’s booth.
Some of the trends I noticed this year: advancements in HD cameras, higher quality integration systems and new apps for smartphones. Additionally, I picked up on several buzz words including the cloud and PSIM (physical security information management). All things to watch and listen for in the coming year.
Education is always big at ISC. With tracks for end-users, integrators as well as dealers, there’s no shortage of opportunities. Did you learn something new and valuable this year? What was it and how will you now apply it to your own organization?
Taking all this into consideration, I want to know what you thought about the show & of what you saw this year. Of the 900+ products and solutions, what, beyond new upgrades and feature improvements, was truly innovative? Did you see anything that gave you that “ah ha” moment?
