Leveraging collaboration to address shared risks in a complex, interdependent global market

William Raisch, Founder and Director of International Center for Enterprise Preparedness (InterCEP) at New York University (NYU)

International businesses operate in an increasingly complex, interdependent and geographically dispersed environment.  The combined forces of off-shoring, outsourcing, international marketing and global supply chains have resulted in a dramatic expansion of the corporate geographic footprint.  With that expanded footprint has come increased vulnerability to a diversity of potential factors that could impact operations. Lacking sufficient internal resources, leading firms are looking to come together to jointly address shared risks and leverage the force multiplier of active collaboration.  They are looking to combine risk intelligence, resources, insights, strategies and capabilities to address common threats and identify potential opportunities.  One effort addressing this complex challenge of international risk involves the establishment of a new Global Risk Network.
