This is the twelfth article in a series entitled: Data Management and Organizational Resilience. ASG is offering a series of blogs as well as a white paper that aggregates these blogs into one download, with the intent to make the case for data management and its correlation to the Organizational Resilience Management function.

OrgRes FinalStepsAs the CSO this can be easy enough if you start with thoroughly understanding core business concepts, embrace the concept of Organizational Resilience, and utilize tools like MS SharePoint to assist in collating and manipulating data.

Moreover, be a bit of a visionary by painting a picture of success, detail for your colleagues what success looks like, and create metrics to quantify success.  More importantly, understand that you cannot eat a whole pie at once, but you can enjoy each bite. Keep your eye on long term success and realize that you will be better tomorrow than you were today and you will be better six months from now than you were last month. To do that you have to keep your eye on the long term, celebrate your successes and maintain momentum by communicating, planning, and reaching for the next step.

The end result is an efficient enterprise capable of confronting all adversity so well that even events you had not anticipated will be better managed because the management team is so practiced, adaptive, and collaborative that adversity is just another interesting challenge.
