BinocularsThis year's Summit, as in past years, was about conversations.  Whether it was peer to peer, speaker to sponsor or host to attendee, conversations about our industry was a crucial point to the day's agenda.

As part of this continuous conversation, we asked each attendee three critical questions related to current trends, technology, leadership and collaboration. Now, we will begin to reveal the answers to these questions as well as spark discussions around your answers.

If you were not able to attend this year’s Summit we encourage you to participate by answering the questions yourself and return frequently to our blog to give us your comments and thoughts on these and other conversations that undergird our industry.

Question #1
What are the top technology trends you would like The Great Conversation to help you track in 2011?

The answers to this question ranged from technology based trends such as the Cloud, IP video & megapixel cameras to more technical concerns like analytics, convergence and tech migration.  We learned that our attendees are noticing the ever changing technology that makes up our industry as well as the importance of having the skill and education required to implement that technology.

Unless we have another national crisis, the issues to watch will be sector specific and organizational in nature. Regulations like Dodd-Frank, FCPA, PCI-2 will be the top issue for some. Counterfeit products/ brand protection issues will be the top for others. For program and function leaders performance metrics are growing because executive management is being pushed for corporate performance metrics. Risk is still growing as the common language of the corporation. 10k risk statements, enterprise risk assessments, and business continuity planning and crisis management all have senior management’s attention.
