How Do You Navigate Change in the Security Industry?
Posted on Tue, Mar 01, 2011
The challenge for any leader in any industry is how to navigate change. Change will impact their people, their business model, their processes, and, ultimately, the value of their organization.
-
This impact of change is no different for Security Executives.
-
They must navigate changes in several areas including, their Organization’s business model and business strategies
-
The Risk Model associated with their changing business
-
Emerging trends around technology products
-
The business and risk intelligence needed from the information they are collecting
-
The evolving ecosystem of vendors and the challenge in authenticating their capabilities to leverage them into the future.
Any ‘solution’ must have a basis in measurement and a performance model to improve a process over time. Security executives need to find colleagues and partners who understand this. The greatest challenge from any of these ‘change’ areas is finding authenticated services from vendors (consultants, integrators and manufacturers) that will align with those needs.
Additionally, it is critical that we are able to benchmark the ideas of the marketplace by testing them through forums like the upcoming ASG Security Summit & Great Conversation Webcast.
On March 8th, just one short week away, The ASG Security Summit will introduce its audience both in Seattle and on-line to some of the existing and emerging thought leaders in the security industry. As well, you will be provided the opportunity to listen to your peers discuss their challenges and solutions through documented case studies in our breakouts. You will be given a chance to have lunch across the table with people like you while discussing the issues of our industry. And you will be able to challenge the technology leaders with questions about the application of their tools within your enterprise while touring our exhibitor area at the Summit and online.
So I urge you to register today for the Summit or, if you can’t join us in person, be sure to register on-line to participate in the live Webcast. This is an opportunity for you to experience a unique view of the questions and solutions coming out of our industry today and tomorrow. By participating in The Great Conversation, you will help to create the new breed of security leadership. I welcome your comments and I look forward to our conversation.
