A New Year's Message from the CEO of Aronson Security Group
Like all of you, I enjoy looking backwards to help me see forward. As I reflect on our industry’s performance in 2010, I see the following:
- Security Executives are beginning to be asked to plan, manage and measure their performance in context of the organization’s goals.
- Security Executives are being asked to optimize their current processes and tools before new purchasing decisions are made.
- Security Executives are being challenged to work within the context of IT’s architecture and security plans.
- Security Integrators continue to be challenged to add value beyond their implementation practices.
- The industry has not created a definition and authentication of terms to describe and measure integrators, so the ability of Security Executives to differentiate and wisely choose who to trust with their security strategy and plans is difficult.
- There is a tectonic shift beginning to emerge in the business model for delivering security solutions, impacting the product roadmaps of manufacturers, the delivery model of integrators and the contributions of engineering and consulting firms.
- Security is an ecosystem. How integrators, manufacturers, consultants, and security executives create disciplined collaborations to guide, design and manage the future will dictate the success of the whole.
ASG has been one of the few integrators that has weathered the economy and come out stronger. This has happened for several reasons:
- We have been fortunate to find clients who truly want a powerful collaboration with us, and see compelling reasons for bringing us into their strategies and embedding us into their core processes for delivering value.
- We have attracted great people, who are looking for a company that isn’t about pushing another product or project, but is about serving the current and future needs of the client and the industry.
- We have found great partners, who share our values, and are working hard to provide leadership within the industry, whether it is thought leadership to help guide us into the future, best practices to guide our core processes, or standards by which we can innovate best in class products that plug and play within our organization’s business and technology architecture.
My hope (and, yes, prayer) is that ASG can continue to be a beacon to the industry, helping to create a Great Conversation that moves us forward on our path to value. I thank each and every one of you who share this dream. And I am honored to walk with you into 2011.
Phil Aronson
